Madison Beach Hotel and The Wharf Restaurant donates to local food bank

MADISON, Conn. – [April 27, 2020] – Madison Beach Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, a AAA Four Diamond Award-winning boutique resort and chosen Hotel of the Year by Hilton, donated over 300 pounds of fresh produce to Branford Community Dining Room.

As part of an on-going commitment to the community, Madison Beach Hotel and its restaurant The Wharf, which both suspended operations during the COVID-19 crisis, are finding ways to help.

Fresh onions, carrots, turnips, potatoes, squash, lemons, and watercress were among the produce delivered to the Community Dining Room.

Founded in 1985, the Community Dining Room (CDR) is a private, not-for-profit organization providing food, support and companionship to shoreline neighbors.

Executive Director Judith Barron said the Dining Room is serving double the amount of food than usual, with a 10 percent increase in the homebound population for food.

A new lunch-to-go is served in disposable containers, with pick-up at the side kitchen door. To ensure social distancing, the CDR taped out lines for guests in the parking lot.
